Europe's first ecoach comes from man
MAN Truck & Bus is making history: the company is the first major European manufacturer to launch a fully electric coach – the Lion's Coach 14 E. It will celebrate its world premiere at the Busworld Europe trade fair in Brussels in October 2025. Following the great success of the Lion's City E family for urban and interurban transport – with almost 3,000 e-buses produced since 2019 – MAN is now consistently focusing on the electrification of coach transport.
The eCoach opens up new opportunities for coach tourism – especially for target groups who value sustainability in their travel planning. While diesel buses already have very low emission values, averaging only 30 grams of CO₂per passenger kilometre, the electric coach reduces this figure even further towards zero. It also represents another important step towards MAN's strategic zero-emission goal. "Our eCoach heralds a new era of emission-free and low-noise travel that many customers have been waiting for. We are delighted to be at the forefront of this development and to be putting such a dynamic and innovative bus on the road," says Barbaros Oktay, Head of Bus at MAN Truck & Bus.
The Lion's Coach 14 E presented at Busworld is a 13.9-metre-long, compact three-axle vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 27.3 tonnes. Its drive and braking power is 330 kW (449 hp) with a maximum torque of approximately 20,000 Newton metres. The intelligent electronics support the driver in both efficient acceleration and deceleration.
