Yutong Releases Full Line of Highway Buses at Mexico Bus Show for Sustainable Mobility in Mexico
From March 4 to 6 local time, EXPO FORO Bus Show 2026 was held in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. At this prestigious event known as the "bellwether" of Latin America’s passenger transport industry, Yutong showcased a range of core products and cutting-edge technologies. It not only demonstrated the prowess of China’s bus manufacturing but also delivered tailor-made mobility solutions for the Mexican market.
In recent years, Mexico’s electric vehicle market has grown rapidly, with an annual growth rate exceeding 50%. The National Electric Mobility Strategy stipulates that all light and heavy-duty buses sold nationwide must be electrified by 2050.
Nevertheless, Mexico presents a triple challenge of high temperatures, high humidity and high altitudes. Local customers have raised concerns over the operational performance of new energy buses: Can vehicles remain reliable under extreme working conditions? Will battery life sustain long-term operations? Is the total cost of ownership (TCO) cost-effective?
To address these key pain points, Yutong unveiled its groundbreaking "Vehicle-Battery Equal Lifespan" technology for battery electric vehicles at the exhibition. Centered on long-life batteries rated for 15 years / 1.5 million kilometres, this technology integrates flat wire motors with 98% efficiency and 7-in-1 silicon carbide controllers boasting 99.8% efficiency. It enhances the safety and stability of vehicles operating under extreme conditions and cuts the overall vehicle TCO by approximately 4–5%, bringing Mexican customers lower maintenance costs and greater commercial value.
From technological innovation to product commercialization, the all-electric C11E model showcased at this exhibition represents a key implementation of Yutong’s electrification strategy. As a battery-electric highway coach, the C11E delivers a maximum range of 530 kilometres under the C-WTVC cycle. Boasting reliability, durability and ride comfort, it meets the demand for green operations in scenarios including 48-seat premium tourism transfers, hotel shuttles and official receptions.
Beyond battery-electric models, Yutong’s booth features a lineup of products with diverse powertrain configurations tailored for segmented use cases, fully addressing the varied operational scenarios and requirements of customers in the Mexican market:
The C9 / C11 / C12 diesel highway coaches adopt closed bodies made of high-strength steel and industry-leading cathodic electrocoating anti-corrosion coatings. Lightweight design and intelligent fuel-saving technologies cut fuel consumption by around 10%, striking an optimal balance between reliability and cost efficiency.
The H9 / H10 hybrid city buses are equipped with Yutong’s new-generation DMT hybrid system, achieving over 30% fuel reduction. Capable of operating in extreme temperatures ranging from -40℃ to 40℃, they serve as an ideal solution for customers prioritizing flexibility and economy.
The V6 light commercial vehicle is engineered for a service life exceeding 2 million kilometres. It comes with a 2.3T engine paired with a 6MT gearbox (9AT automatic transmission optional), adjustable comfort seats and multiple seating layout options. It precisely caters to lightweight operational needs across tourism passenger transport, group commuting and business reception scenarios.
Notably, Yutong has ensured all its diesel products available in Mexico comply with the upgraded Euro VI emission standards for the local market. From innovations in new energy technologies to environmental upgrades for conventional powertrains, Yutong is advancing a multi-path product portfolio to help Mexico move toward a greener future.
Since entering the Mexican market in 2018, Yutong has steadily advanced its localisation efforts. To date, Yutong has exported nearly 2,000 vehicles to Mexico, of which more than 1,100 are new energy models.
